Japanese Language Support Activities
What are Japanese Language Supporters ?
Japanese language supporters are persons who accompany the requests of non-native speakers of Japanese who want to learn Japanese, and provides volunteer support for their learning.
In Kyotamba Town, there are three Japanese classes, Tamba Class, Mizuho Class, and Wachi Class, run by the Kyotamba International Exchange Association. All classes are supported by local residents and association members who volunteer their time and effort.
We are working to create an environment where people of different nationalities and ethnicities can work and live safely and with peace of mind, based on the theme of the Multicultural Committee's activities, which is “to create an environment where people of different nationalities and ethnicities can work and live safely and with peace of mind.

1. Foreign residents and Japanese residents living in the community will establish ties on a regular basis, and create a better relationship where they can help and cooperate with each other not only in their daily lives, but also in times of disaster.
2. “I want to be able to use Japanese better.” “I want to work using Japanese.” “I want to be able to use Japanese. I want to work using Japanese. We will help and support, to the extent that we are able, foreign learners who are trying to learn Japanese with the thought, “I want to be able to use Japanese more” or “I want to work using Japanese. What we do is not to teach but to support. We will support them in a way that makes the most of their individuality…
3. We provide support only as volunteer activities. We believe that our support activities should be done “on our own initiative,” “with our own ingenuity to find a better way,” “without asking for anything in return,” and “with the satisfaction of contributing to society, even if in a small way. We also value mutual support and learning among supporters so that they can continue to enjoy their activities without feeling weighed down by a “must” or exhausted by the pressure and care they feel.
